What is Supported Independent Living?

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is an NDIS support package that enables individuals to live with other people with disabilities or on their own while receiving support for everyday tasks. This support helps build independence and includes assistance with activities such as cooking, cleaning, and personal care. SIL also connects individuals to new activities, social events, and hobbies within their homes and local communities.

At Uprety Home Care, we are committed to ensuring your experience in SIL accommodation is positive and tailored to your needs. We work closely with you, your family, and your carers to understand your needs and goals. Our services include:

  • High-intensity assistance with daily living activities
  • Personal care and hygiene support
  • Meal preparation and nutritional guidance

  • Transportation assistance
  • Social and recreational support
  • Household tasks and maintenance assistance

Our team of professionals provides support staff day and night, seven days a week if needed. We arrange vehicles available to take you to appointments, shops, community activities, and social events.

Funding for Supported Independent Living

Supported Independent Living is funded by the NDIS. The SIL support package does not cover rent and boarding costs, but these can be paid using your Disability Support Pension, Commonwealth Rent Assistance, or other income sources. Your NDIS planner or Local Area Coordinator can help determine if SIL is right for you by considering your needs, goals, and circumstances.
